Kevin Whitehead

Dr. Whitehead received his M.D. from the University of Alberta, and did an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Western Ontario. He completed Cardiology fellowship and a Cardiovascular Research fellowship at the University of Utah, where he was named a Pfizer Cardiovascular Research Fellow in 2000. His research project was with Dr. Dean Li of the Cardiology Division with an initial focus on characterizing mouse models of HHT. He continues to be active in research on animal models of human hereditary vascular malformation syndromes.

Dr. Whitehead's research and clinical work focus on inherited disorders associated with cardiovascular disease.  He provides particular expertise to HHT patients regarding high-output heart failure due to vascular malformations of HHT, cardiac disease complicated by HHT, and the use of echocardiography to detect lung AVMs.   Dr. Whitehead is also the Co-Director of the Utah HHT Center, and in this role provides overall medical management and coordination of care to HHT patients seen at our Center.
