Recovery Works Young Adult
Intensive Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program
Recovery Works now offers a program designed to meet the specific needs of young adults (typically 18 to 26 years old) struggling with drug and alcohol problems. Participants work in group therapy Monday - Thursday, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM. Weekly Aftercare support remains available to participants on an open ended basis following treatment completion.
Recovery Works Young Adult program addresses the unique complications of achieving recovery in the context of relationships with peers, parents, school and work. Groups are both process and educationally oriented. The program draws on the expertise of social work, nursing, expressive/recreational therapies, psychiatry and alumni of the program.
Recovery Works incorporates the philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous. Participants are expected to attend three 12-Step meetings a week. Family work is another key component to positive treatment outcomes. Participants are expected to include their parent(s) or other family members in Tuesday family sessions.
Recovery Works is under the direction of a board certified psychiatrist. All group leaders are licensed professionals.
Criteria for admission include being medically clear and detoxified from alcohol and drugs. Participants will agree to random urinalysis. Regular attendance is required. Two unexcused absences will be grounds for discharge.
At the time of the initial evaluation, a University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute financial counselor will explain the cost of the program, determine whether available insurance will fund the intensive outpatient program, and discuss payment options.
