Recovery Works Adolescent
Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program
UNI's Recovery Works - Adolescent, formally known as Staying Off Substances, (SOS), is a ten week, (40 session) after school treatment program for adolescents with drug and alcohol problems. Designed to allow students to continue with their school schedule. The program meets Monday through Wednesday from 4 PM - 7 PM and Thursday evening from 5 PM - 8 PM.
The treatment program includes group therapy, psychoeducation, experiential therapy and family therapy intervention. Parent participation is required. When the ten week treatment program concludes, weekly aftercare and participation in 12 Step meetings is encouraged for at least six months.
Recovery works with adolescents when we draw on the natural strengths adolescents possess. Resiliency training - central to our treatment program - augments the growth process to help prepare for an adulthood free of substance dependency while developing skills to help adolescents negotiate future challenges of work and intimacy.
Our multi-disciplinary treatment team is supervised by a Board Eligible/Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist; clinical social workers and an expressive therapist complete the team.
Criteria for admission include medical clearance and detoxification from drugs and/or alcohol. Both the adolescent and their family must agree to have the adolescent participate in random urinalysis. A commitment to attend all treatment sessions for the 10 week duration and Aftercare component are essential.
At the time of initial evaluation, a University Neuropsychiatric Institute financial counselor will explain program costs, determine whether available insurance will fund treatment, and discuss payment options.
