Our Bariatric Surgery Team

What makes University of Utah Health Care’s Bariatric Surgery Program team unique? In addition to board certified surgical specialists, our program is supported by the expertise of providers throughout the University of Utah School of Medicine. Collaboration between our experts ensures that you will receive the most comprehensive care available. Other team members include a physician assistant, nurse, dietician, and financial and administrative staff who are focused on creating individualized care plans to help our patients in their life-changing experience.

	Anne Pesek, RD, CD Anne earned her bachelors in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed her dietetic internship at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. She joined the bariatric team in August 2011. Anne oversees the nutritional piece of patient care through nutritional assessments, education and counseling, both pre- and post-operatively. She is passionate about helping patients through the nutritional challenges of weight loss.

	Amy Thomson Amy is a medical secretary and she helps coordinate your care by scheduling procedures, treatments, and visits that your doctor has recommended.

	Amy Amann, MS, MBA Amy is our program coordinator and is responsible for program organization and growth and ensuring excellent customer service.

	Kelly Kesler Kelly is our financial advocate who will help you navigate through our program, making sure insurance requirements are met. Her goal is to assist you in starting your life-changing journey.

	Jessica Samudio Jessica is our medical assistant who works closely with the surgeon and physician assistant to guide you through your pre- and post-surgical clinic appointments.
