Symptoms of Atrial Fibrillation

The following are the most common symptoms of atrial fibrillation, however, each person may experience symptoms differently.

  • Palpitations (rapid, irregular pounding in the chest)
  • Lightheadedness
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Chest pain

Some people with Atrial Fibrillation do not experience symptoms, the problem is often diagnosed during a routine medical check up. Atrial fibrillation is not a life threatening heart rhythm. As people get older, their chances of going into this rhythm increase. Heart disease, lung disease, excessive alcohol or caffeine intake are among the most common causes.
