Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)

  • Pulsing (similar to a heartbeat) in your abdomen
  • Severe, sudden pain in your jaw, neck, abdomen and/or back
  • Difficulty breathing

Acute myocardial infarction -Heart Attack

  • Pain and/or squeezing sensation in the chest
  • Jaw pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Sweating
  • Heartburn and/or indigestion
  • Arm pain (more commonly the left arm, but may be either arm)
  • Upper back pain
  • General feeling of illness
  • No symptoms- Approximately 25% of all heart attacks are silent, without chest pain or symptoms

Acute coronary syndromes 

  • Palpitations -(thumping or fluttering in the chest)
  • Pain in the neck, shoulder, jaw, back, upper abdomen, or either arm
  • Excessive sweating 
  • Nausea
  • Low exercise tolerance

Adult congenital heart disease

  • shortness of breath
  • low exercise tolerance

Arrhythmias

  • Weakness
  • Fatigue
  • Palpitations-(thumping or fluttering in the chest)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting

Atherosclerosis

  • Atherosclerosis does not produce symptoms until damage to the artery is severe enough to reduce blood flow. 
  • Pain in your chest or extremities
  • Intermittent symptoms of Carotid Artery Disease

Atrial Fibrillation

  • Palpitations (rapid, irregular pounding in the chest)
  • Lightheadedness
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Chest pain

Cardiomyopathy

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Low exercise tolerance
  • Decreased appetite

Carotid Artery Disease/Stroke

  • There are often no symptoms in the early stages of CAD  
  • Feelings of weakness or tingling on one side of your body
  • Loss of extremely control
  • Loss of vision in one eye
  • Slurred speech

Congested Heart Failure

  • Fatigue or weakness
  • Shortness of breath with or without activity
  • Difficulty breathing while lying flat
  • Rapid or irregular pulse
  • Edema or swelling of legs, feet and ankles and/or abdomen 
  •  A chronic dry or frothy cough that may be blood-tinged or resemble foam
  • Nocturia, or an increase in urination at night
  • Palpitations, or feeling the heart beat in your chest
  • Dark colored urine (may not be present if already taking diuretic medications)
  • A decrease in urine output
  • Unexplained or unintentional rapid weight gain
  • Distended or swollen neck veins
  •  Loss of appetite or indigestion
  • Cold, sweaty, dusky colored skin.

Congenital Heart Disease

  • Pain in the chest, arm or jaw
  • Pressure or tightness in the Chest
  • Breathlessness
  • Low exercise tolerance

Coronary artery disease

  • Pain or discomfort areas of the upper body including the arms, left shoulder, back, neck, jaw, or stomach
  • shortness of breath
  • Sweating
  • Fullness, indigestion, or choking feeling
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Light-headedness, dizziness
  • Weakness/fatigue
  • Rapid or irregular heart beats

Chronic Venous Insufficiency

  • Swelling of ankles 
  • Tightness in calves
  • Heavy, tired, or achy feeling in the legs
  • Pain when walking
  • Varicose Veins

Deep Vein Thrombosis

  • About half of all DVT cases do not cause symptoms. 
  • Swelling, tenderness, leg pain that may worsen when you walk or stand 
  • A sensation of warmth in the legs
  • Skin that turns blue or red.

Heart failure

  • Swelling in your ankles and legs
  • Becoming short of breath during regular activities
  • Waking up short of breath
  • Needing to urinate often at night
  • Gaining weight (2-3 pounds in 2 day or 5 pounds in a week)
  • Bloating
  • Clothes and belts getting tighter around your waist
  • Losing your appetite
  • Feeling tired or weak
  • Confusion or impaired memory

Peripheral Arterial Disease

  • Pain in the legs, thighs and hips
  • Numbness, tingling, or weakness in the legs
  • Burning or aching pain in the feet or toes while resting
  • Slow healing of wounds on the leg or a foot 

Syncope- Fainting

  • Lightheadedness
  • Nausea
  • Pale appearance
  • sweating
  • feeling of warmth
  • weakness
  • dimmed vision
  • difficulty hearing

Tachycardia

  • Palpitations-(thumping or fluttering in the chest)
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Discomfort in your chest
  • Fatigue

Valvular heart disease

  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness or dizziness
  • Discomfort in your chest
  • Palpitations-(thumping or fluttering in the chest)
  • Swelling of your ankles, feet or abdomen.
  • Rapid weight gain.

Varicose Veins

  • Heavy, tired, or achy feeling in the legs
  • Small clusters of veins appear in a winding pattern on your leg
