Walk to Cure Psoriasis 2011
We are anticipating another successful walk on Saturday, July 16, 2011. This year the walk will be at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City. Last year, there was a total of 125 participants, including over 50 participants from the Department of Dermatology. Last year, the Salt Lake City walkers raised almost $14,000 for the National Psoriasis Foundation to help fund psoriasis research and advocacy efforts. This year's goal is to raise $35,000 and to have 200 participants.
Registration will be at 8:00 a.m.; the 2.5K and 5K walks begin at 9:00 a.m. Registration is only $25. All ages welcome.
National Psoriasis Walks are family-friendly 2.5K and 5K events. Salt Lake City has been chosen to pilot our 5K Run component. Join others in your community to make a difference in the lives of people living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. To date Walk to Cure Psoriasis has raised more than $4 million for Foundation research, education and advocacy programs. Your contribution to support the National Psoriasis Foundation will help those living with the disease look forward to longer, healthier lives.
Walkers raise funds by asking friends, relatives and co-workers to sponsor them. There are lots of prizes for those that raise money. For every $250 you raise, your name will be entered into a drawing for a trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands and there are many other prizes. You can either start your own team, or join one of several teams that have already been started within the Department of Dermatology. Can't make it to the walk? Consider making a donation.
To register, go to active.com. Online registration ends July 13th at midnight through Active.com. On-site registration is available on July 16th for an additional charge.
