National Poster Contest Winner
Utah Student Wins National Sun Safety Poster Contest!
Jewelianna Nielsen, the 1st Place Winner in Utah's SunSafe Utah Poster Contest, just won the National title. Her poster was chosen from over 12,500 posters submitted by school children grades K-8 throughout the United States. Jewelianna and her mother traveled to Washington, DC on May 15, 2013 to be honored at the 5th Annual Pitchin' Posters Reception to Strike Out Skin Cancer, hosted by the SHADE Foundation of America. The SHADE Foundation is a children's skin cancer prevention foundation founded by Shonda Schilling, after her very public battle with malignant melanoma at age 33.
As the Overall National Winner, Jewelianna won a family trip to Disney World for her and her family and a shade structure (valued at over $10,000) for her school's playground as well as an iPad at the state poster contest.
Jewelianna is a 6th grader at Creekview Elementary in Price, Utah.
But it doesn't stop there...2 of the 5 National K-3 Winners are also Utah state poster winners. Congratulations to Clair Reichert, a 2nd Grader from Salt Lake City, and Natalie Parker, a 2nd Grader from Springville. Utah.
