Laser & Cosmetic Dermatology

woman touching up her make upThe skin, the largest organ of the body, helps define a person's look. Any unsightly skin appearance, such as scarring, can affect both mental and physical well-being. In addition, because the skin is on the outside of the body, it is more susceptible to growths, discolorations, and disease.

The University of Utah Department of Dermatology is proud to offer state of the art technology in lasers, and a variety of cosmetic procedures that are aimed at total skin rejuvenation at the Dermatology and Laser Center in Murray.

Our team of trained professionals includes board-certified dermatologists, and a master aesthetician. They are fully trained in the field of medical and cosmetic dermatology. Our clinical professionals will work with you to create a comprehensive, individualized plan for your skin.

Laser Resurfacing

Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is a state of the art laser procedure that is aimed at total skin rejuvenation. ActiveFXTM is a more superficial treatment that is excellent for skin pigmentation and fine lines. DeepFXTM is a deeper treatment than can treat deeper wrinkles, scars, in addition to providing skin tightening. The healing time is significantly shorter than other resurfacing techniques.

Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a safe and effective way to eliminate unwanted hair. We have several laser systems that are safe for a variety of skin types. Laser hair removal requires multiple treatments and can be used to remove hair on the face and body. Both men and women can enjoy the benefits of this technology.

Sun Damage

Our team of practitioners at the Cosmetic Center will provide a comprehensive medical and cosmetic plan to treat sun-damaged skin which generates a more youthful appearance. One of the most effective tools available is the Intense Pulsed Light System (photofacial). This technology reduces redness, diminishes age spots, and improves skin tone and overall pigmentation.

Treatment of Vascular (Red) Spots

A variety of vascular (red) spots such as facial redness, “broken vessels”, and vascular birthmarks can be effectively and safely treated with lasers. These red spots can be due to sun damage, rosacea, or ethnic background. The practitioners at the University Cosmetic Center can determine which laser is ideal for your condition and skin type.

Botox®

Botox® is an FDA approved treatment for wrinkles that are caused by muscles of facial movement such as between the eyebrows (frown lines), forehead, and around the eyes. This is a safe and effective technique that has been used for over 10 years. Filler Injections Filler substances are injected into the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and to give the skin a plumper, smooth appearance. At the University Cosmetic Center we offer a wide variety of filler products including Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse, collagen, Sculptra, and fat injections.

Chemical Peels

A variety of chemical peels are available to treat acne and acne scarring, sun-damage, pigmentation problems such as “melasma”, and fine wrinkling. Your practitioner will discuss with you the types of peels that are suitable for your skin type.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy involves the injecting of a solution into the vein, thus collapsing the vein. This is a safe and effective technique to remove unwanted “spider veins” and gives your legs a more youthful look.

Hydrafacial

Our hydrafacial provides a relaxing and pain-free technique to exfoliate and hydrate the skin, thus providing a more radiant look.
