Leg Ulcers & Pyoderma Gangrenosum
Leg ulcers are caused by many conditions including problems with the blood vessels, inflammation of blood vessels, diabetes, underlying medical diseases, infections and medications. Pyoderma gangrenosum is a rare cause of leg ulcers caused by unchecked inflammation in the skin. The ulcers can grow rapidly, are quite painful, and may worsen despite wound care. Painful non-healing ulcers should be evaluated by a dermatologist or vascular sugeon.
