Continuing Medical Education (CME)
EMTs and Paramedics are required to provide documention of CME hours during their four year certification period. The number of hours varies depending on your certification level. A portion of these hours must include hands on training. The hours must meet the National EMS Education Standards to include:

- Anatomy and Physiology
- Medical Terminology
- Pathophysiology
- Life Span Development
- Public Health
- Pharmacology
- Airway Management, Respiration, and Artificial Ventilation
- Asessment
- Medicine
- Shock and Resuscitation
- Trauma
- Special Patient Populations
- Pediatrics
- EMS Operations
- CPR
CME hours can be obtained through a number of methods which include in-person classes, online learning, conferences, journals and videos.
