Program Participation & Continuation Criteria

Program Continuation Criteria 
 NSI1 Demonstrate successful completion of all requirements of the first adult med/surg semester of an accredited/approved nursing program.

Demonstrate current enrollment in an accredited/approved nursing program by proof of registration and transcripts.

Have current AHA BLS Health Provider card, or obtain within 1 month of hire.

Commit to working at least one 8-hour shift per week.

Commit to working on an inpatient unit for two years following graduation.

 Demonstrate continued enrollment in an accredited/approved nursing program each semester by proof of registration and transcripts.

Maintain State of Utah AHA BLS Provider card.

Attend four days of Nursing Orientation, NSI Orientation and one other NSI educational offering.

Demonstrate satisfactory performance expectations, with an average score of 3 or better, and no score of 1 on performance evaluation.

Must work at least one 8-hour shift per week on assigned unit.
 
 NSI2 Demonstrate successful completion of all requirements of the second adult med/surg semester
OR
Work at least 3 months as an NSI 1 and have previous HCA/CAN experience, satisfactory completion of the unit HCA Competency Checklist, and be recommended by the Unit Nurse Manager.

Demonstrate current enrollment in an accredited/approved nursing program by proof of registration and transcripts.

Have current AHA BLS Health Provider card, or obtain within 1 month of hire.

Demonstrate satisfactory NSI 2 performance expectations with an average score of 3 or better, with no score of 1 on performance evaluation.

Demonstrate continued enrollment in an accredited/approved nursing program each semester by proof of registration and transcripts.

Maintain State of Utah AHA BLS Provider card.

Attend two NSI educational offerings.

Demonstrate satisfactory performance expectations, with an average score of 3 or better, and no score of 1 on performance evaluation.

Must work at least one 8-hour shift on assigned unit.
