Skin Resurfacing & Chemical Peels
There are three types of our facial plastic and reconstructive specialists use to treat premature wrinkling, sun damage, acne scars, and pre-cancerous skin growths:
Our facial plastic and reconstructive specialists utilize the following injectable wrinkle fillers:
- Chemical Peels
- Dermabrasion
- Laser Surgery
Chemical Peels
With chemical peeling we use a chemical solution to improve the skin's appearance. It can reduce or eliminate fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth, correct uneven skin pigmentation, remove precancerous skin growths, and soften acne or treat scars caused by acne. The procedure can also treat wrinkles caused by sun damage and scarring, as well as skin blemishes common with age and heredity.
Dermabrasion
Similar to a chemical peel, dermabrasion is a procedure that removes fine wrinkles and/or minimizes scars on the skin. The difference between a chemical peel and dermabrasion, however, is the method used. Dermabrasion involves our surgeon utilizing a high speed rotating brush to remove the top layer of skin. The size and depth of the scars, as well as the degree of wrinkling, determine the appropriate level of skin that will be surgically sloughed.
Laser Surgery
The use of lasers to help resurface sun-damaged skin is one of the great advances in cosmetic plastic surgery. We use a laser that utilizes Carbon Dioxide and seals tiny capillaries and lymph vessels, decreasing post treatment swelling. The laser can also removal precancerous skin lesions.
To determine if skin resurfacing, a chemical peel or laser surgery are the right decision for you and to determine which one meets your individual needs, please schedule an appointment with one of our facial plastic and reconstruction specialists.
