Eric W. Glissmeyer, MD

  • Dr. Glissmeyer advances the care of sick and injured children in Pediatric Emergency Medicine through leading teams to improve systems of healthcare. He attended medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine, graduating in 2008. He completed residency training in General Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center in 2011. After fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah, he joined the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

    Clinically, Dr. Glissmeyer endeavors to provide excellent care to children with both self-limited and life-threatening illness and injuries. He also hopes to educate and support, treat pain and build a relationship of trust with parents. He considers it a privilege to care for children and families at crucial moments.


    While in medical school, Dr. Glissmeyer developed an interest in process and quality improvement and began studying the effects of care process models on care delivery and health resource utilization. While in residency, he developed innovate measures of resident quality improvement education. As a fellow, he further developed his skills in system based practice and health systems via coursework in Biomedical Informatics and a fellowship with Intermountain Healthcare’s Institute for Health Care Delivery Research. His current research is focused on bacterial infections in infants with fever and the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. After 6 years of system leadership in medical informatics with Intermountain Healthcare, focusing in emergency medicine, pediatric ambulatory and acute services, and provider training and education, he further reinforced his leadership skills and financial acumen by completing an executive MBA at the University of Utah.


    He delights in caring for the children of the Intermountain Region while working with the excellent students, residents, fellows, nurses, therapists, technicians, support staff, and other pediatric specialists at Primary Children’s Hospital, University of Utah clinics, and other Intermountain Healthcare facilities providing children's health services.
