Bio

Dr. Witte received her medical degree from George Washington University, followed by a pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and pediatric pulmonary and critical care fellowships at Case Western Reserve University and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. She was on the faculty of Case Western Reserve for 4 years before joining the University of Utah in 1988. Dr. Witte is board-certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Witte is currently a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Utah. She is Medical Director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Primary Children’s Medical Center, where she is a full time attending physician. Her clinical interests include comprehensive care of infants and children with critical heart disease and mechanical circulatory support.

Academic Bio

Dr. Witte has served in numerous leadership roles since joining the Department of Pediatrics, including Medical Director of Respiratory Care Services, Medical Director of Endoscopy Services, Medical Director of Pediatric Life Flight, and Chair of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Primary Children’s Medical Center. Her current administrative focus is as Medical Director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Primary Children’s Medical Center She is a member of the Heart Center Steering Committee, and has been a University of Utah Institutional Review Board panel member for over 10 years. She is active in the Society for Critical Care Medicine and the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, and she is a steering committee member for the Pediatric Critical Care Colloquium. She is a graduate of the Intermountain Advanced Training Program in Health Care Delivery Improvement. Her research interests include outcomes and resource utilization in congenital heart disease.
