I would have no hesitation recommending Dr. Mamalis. He is professional, courteous, kind, concerned, and uses layman's language when necessary. He also takes the trouble to schedule one's surgery at the best time for the patient (many of whom are diabetic).

I felt my examination was very thorough--there were a number of different tests using different machines and various technicians. All of them did a great job and explained what they were doing. That's been my experience but this wait was the longest and didn't involve a resident/fellow as is sometimes the case with visits that go long.

He called back on the same day I left the message and spent time answering my questions thoroughly and giving me guidance on the decision for what kind of lens would work best for me when I had my cataract surgery. He didn't make me feel as though he was in a hurry or that my questions were unimportant. I am very pleased with the quality of care and service from Dr. Mamalis and all of the staff during my visit and and answering my phone calls and questions following my visit.

UofU Patient January 26, 2012We left without a solution to his problem and maybe there isn't one, he can read the eye charts in the office, but cannot see in the real world, he hasn't driven for months due to vision problems, so we are just where we started. He can't drive to work or work on the farm so we don't really don't know what to do from here. He told us to put eye drops in his eyes but that doesn't seem to be a solution. we'll give it a few days, but so far no change.
