Patricia A. Trela, DPT

Bio

Patty Trela, PT, DPT, CMPT - Received a Physical Therapy degree in 1986 from Temple University. Manual Therapy training and certification was completed through NAIOMT in 2002. She graduated from Creighton University in 2005 with her Doctoral degree. Patty has been a practicing physical therapist at the University of Utah Sports Medicine clinic, now the Orthopaedic Center, since 1990. Dr. Trela has published 1) “CCCE reference manual for Physical Therapists”, 2002 and 2) “ Injuries and Rehabilitation in Kayaking and Canoeing”, Chapter 40 in Women in Sport, IOC Encyclopedic Book of Sports Medicine, 2000. She developed the “Build a Bone” Program at the UUOC in 2005, an osteoporosis prevention and treatment program. She is also involved in outreach programs in local High Schools and communities. Dr. Trela received the 2008 Physical Therapist of the Year Award from the Utah APTA and is a member of the Americal Physical Therapy Association and the National Osteoporosis Foundation. She continues to practice orthopaedic clinical practice, teach physical therapists and the community about good bone health and now facilitates knee injury testing/training with teenage athletes. Dr. Trela also works with a partner to develop and sell the Wasatch Weight Vest (www.wasatchweightvest.com).
