Bio

Matthew Samore, MD is the Principal Investigator of the Salt Lake VA Informatics Decision Enhancement and Surveillance (IDEAS) Center and the Principal Investigator of the VA Consortium for Healthcare Informatics Research. He is the Principal Investigator. He is Professor of Medicine, Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Informatics, and Chief, Division of Epidemiology at the University of Utah. He attended the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, and his Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Dr. Samore was a member of the faculty of Harvard Medical School for 8 years. Dr. Samore’s expertise encompasses epidemiologic methods, electronic surveillance, and decision-support systems. Dr. Samore has spearheaded program building efforts in health services research and informatics at the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System and University of Utah. He has broad-based experience in leading multi-disciplinary research programs. He has received funding from FDA, AHRQ, CDC, and VA.
