Bio

Dr. Sheppard earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Utah. He is currently the Director of the University of Utah Alcohol & Drug Abuse Clinic within Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. His clinical interests include psychological treatment of chemical dependency, psychological adjustment to illness and disability, and the treatment of depression, anxiety, and psychological trauma. He has a special interest in working with persons with disabilities with concurrent substance abuse problems.

Academic Bio

Dr. Sheppard is currently the director of the University of Utah Rehabilitation Psychology and Alcohol & Drug Abuse Clinics within the University of Utah Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He is also the director of the University of Utah School on Alcoholism & Other Drug Dependencies, a large nationally attended annual conference. He has held these positions since 2005. Prior to this he was a staff psychologist with University of Utah Rehabilitation Services.

Dr. Sheppard earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Utah in 1997. Dr. Sheppard is an adjunct assistant professor in the University of Utah Division of Physical Medicine and University of Utah Department of Psychology. He provides ongoing clinical training for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral psychology students. He is an instructor for the University of Utah Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation teaching coursework on psychological adjustment to disability. He is a frequent lecturer to local agencies as well as regional and national conferences on topics of substance abuse recovery and psychological adjustment to disability.
