  • Benjamin Kalm, MD has been working at the University of Utah since 2007 and became an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in 2008. He specializes in the care of the hospitalized pediatric patient (Pediatric Hospitalist) and and spends ~80% of his time as a clinician at Primary Children’s Hospital (owned by Intermountain Healthcare). Dr. Kalm’s academic interests lie in improving resident and medical student education and the use of Electronic Health Records. Dr. Kalm has also been instrumental in training residents, medical students, and other faculty in the use of the Electronic Medical Record Systems in use at Primary Children’s Hospital and in the configuration of the Intermountain Healthcare Electronic Medical Record for use in Hospital Pediatrics.

    Dr. Kalm received his undergraduate education at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon with a degree in Chemistry and a minor in Music. He subsequently attended the Ohio State University where he earned his MD in 2003. For postgraduate training Dr. Kalm completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico in 2006. He became board certified in Pediatrics in 2006 and is currently board eligible for Pediatric Hospital Medicine.


    Prior to starting at the University of Utah, Dr. Kalm spent a year employed in pediatric urgent care at an Intermountain Healthcare Kidscare.
