Mark A. McKay, O.D.

Last month I had gone to Dr. McKay because I could not read out of my right eye which is monovision for up close.....It wasn't any better so he tweaked it again. I think his resident did the one last month and I just don't think the prescription was correct. I'm hoping this helps. I also hope that there isn't something wrong with my eye..hopefully the new prescription will work...I've had monovision for years, but maybe at 75 not a good idea, I just don't know.

I so wish I could buy or use the drops that reverse the pupil dilation as the dilated pupils lasted until I went to bed that night; the dilated pupils trigger my migraines.

Dr. McKay was OUTSTANDING!! I like him a lot and would gladly recommend him to my wife and/or other prospective patients. He is very qualified. Has a great "bedside manner" (or whatever that equivalent is for ophthalmologists....). Very friendly. Interested in ME.

Dr. McKay has been a great doctor for the past 13 years.

My eye exam was fairly straight forward. I had no specific concerns about my vision and any questions I had were satisfactorily answered.

I love the ease at which DrMckay has always put me at ease and I love his social banter.

Dr McKay does an excellent job of explaining procedures and the next steps of treatment.

My issue want the care provider, rather the overall wait time I had for the initial appt and the waiting after my eyes were dilated. I waited aprrox 1 1/2 hours in the total appt.

I felt very confident in the level of care I received. I felt the provider listened to me and addressed my concerns and was genuinely focused and concerned about me. Very, very quality care!

The Intern spent more time with me and my husband than the actual doctor. There can be a better balance here.

I like to know and learn what is going on during an appointment. The doctor was very nice but not forthcoming about what he was doing or why. I got the impression that had I not talked he might have nearly made simple conversation, done his job, and left.

Dr. McCay is professional, and took the time to listen to my questions, and discuss options with me. Excellent chairside care. Thank You.

I mentioned I was using eye drops for dryness but I didn't really like what I was using. Dr McKay didn't give me any other choices or talk about something else that might work better.

It was hard for me to find out, what my eye condition was after the examination. I had to specifically ask.

Even though I understand medical jargon, Dr. McKay didn't use any, yet didn't condescend me as someone who doesn't have an M.D. He was chatty and informal which made me less stressed about his potential findings. He was also polite and at ease, he seemed like he liked his work, which is really important.

I was happy with the care provider until this happened. I will probably go again but any more problems and I rprobably will not go back.

Dr. McKay was very professional while being very friendly, kind and thorough. He demonstrated the utmost of care, kindness, and interest in me as a patient.

Regarding #7. Had either the intern or Dr. Mackay spoken to me in simplistic terms, I would find that very offensive. I think both spoke to me as one professional to another, although we are not in the same profession.

I suspect the amount of time I wait for Dr. McKay is related to the quality of service he provides for his patients. He always makes you feel you are important and answers all questions thoroughly.

I was not told what my vision was, this would have been good to know, although I forgot to ask.

Despite the unprofessional reception staff, Dr. McKay was highly professional.

If I'm aware of friends/family/Co-worker looking for an eye Dr. I always recommend my dr. dr McKay.

Dr. McKay is a superlative doctor. I enjoy my visits with him as I always learn something new about my eyes and about current medical research on my issues. I have had many eye doctors at prestigious institutions but Dr. McKay is the best.

The intern was great. Dr. McKay was also good but gave me only 5 minutes after I'd been there for 90 minutes.

Dr. McKay was not only friendly and nice, but took the time to ensure that all my questions and needs were answered. I did not once feel that he was rushed or needed to be somewhere else. These high qualities can often be rare in visiting any health clinic.

I don't feel that I got good feedback about what exactly was wrong with my daughters eyes and I am not sure why I am seeing a specialist (I am assuming we are unable to determine her vision prescription- but it was not explained throughly to me). I would have liked a better discussion with the doctor about what each term means, ie- stigmatism, level of vision, a step by step explaination of what he was doing with her eyes as he was doing it. All vision needs are new and foreign to me, I don't feel I was educated during my visit.

This provider was very friendly and kind. I enjoyed the conversations we had. I didn't quit feel like my concern was fully addressed and the provider didn't give me an explenation at the end of my visit about what he planned to do about my last prescription being too strong and if he was going to reduce it. Like I said the provider was personable enough and made me feel very comfortable. It would be nice to recieve more thorough explenations. Other than that and the wait my experience was very enjoyable.

Once inside, everything was good.

Very minimalist bedside manner. He should be saying what he is doing at every step - I had to stop him before he put those yellow drops in and ask him what he was doing. He acted like a technician, going through the motions.

Seemed rushed this time. I've seen Dr. McKay before and he is usually more relaxed and spends more time explaining what he is doing and why.

Dr, MacKay diagnosed my problem and gave me the medicines that worked within a short time-frame. I was truly miserable, and am now absolutely wonderful
