Bio

Dr. Hoffman's career as a researcher and educator began in 2001 at University of Utah School of Medicine. His initial pursuits were part of his medical school training. During his 4 years of medical school he participated in basic science research in a cardiovascular lab. His research career continued during his Pediatrics residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he was involved in a community health based project on childhood obesity. He then returned to the University Of Utah School Of Medicine for a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship. He continued involvement in research by completing two clinical projects. The first project involved an investigation on childhood stroke in patients with congenital heart disease. This project led to him winning first runner up in the American Academy of Pediatrics section on Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiovascular surgery young investigator award in 2010. This project was followed by an investigation on aortic aneurysms after repair of aortic coarctation. He also has enjoyed teaching and mentoring residents throughout his training. In 2011 he joined the Department of Pediatrics as faculty and looks forward to continuing these efforts throughout his career.
