Julia P. Bolick is a Clinical Nutritionist/ Dietitian Specialist II with an emphasis in Lipid Management and Wellness employed with University of Utah’s, Cardiovascular Genetics Research Center, and Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Clinic for the past 13 years. She is also employed with Intermountain Health Care‘s, Health and Fitness Institute for the past 5 years in their Executive Health and Fitness, Weigh to Health Weight Management and Heart4Life chronic disease management programs. She has been credentialed with the University of Utah since 2006. She is a Nutrition Educator with Precision Health, Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services since 2002. She has been private consultant to various companies for wellness counseling and education.
Formal education began at Indiana University of PA with an undergraduate degree in Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition Education in 1981. She received a Master’s degree from University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Nutrition with an emphasis in Geriatric Nutrition in 1985. She completed a qualifying experience with the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA in 1985. She has been registered with the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 1986, certified in the state of Utah since 2004 and a certificate of training in Adult Weight Management with the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2002.
She received her specialty certification as a Clinical Lipid Specialist from the Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidology in 2009. She received fellowship in the National Lipid Association in 2012.
She has spent the past 23 years in engaged in nutrition counseling, education and research in lipid clinics and with cardiovascular disease prevention. She has been engaged in academia providing lectures at professional meetings, educating University of Utah nutrition and medical students, preceptor for student interns and with workplace colleagues. She has been very active in the community with local and national media events, newspaper articles and lectures. She has had success in writing education grants and obtaining over $15,000 to fund cardiovascular disease prevention programs through nutrition education.
She is currently a member of the Utah Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Preventive Cardiology Nurse Association, Utah Atherosclerosis Society and National Lipid Association. She is a board member with the Pacific Lipid Association.
