Bio

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Its mission is to provide outstanding clinical care, research results, and education of future physicians and related healthcare providers. My clinical work comprises diagnostic evaluations of individuals suspected of having ASDs, individual therapy, and supervision of social skills groups for adolescents with ASD. The Autism Diagnostic Clinic is housed within the Department of Psychiatry's Child and Adolescent/Adult Behavioral Health Specialty Clinic. I conduct diagnostic evaluations in cases of suspected ASD using gold-standard procedures that include the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R). I collaborate in these evaluations with other providers specializing in Pediatrics and Psychiatry, as needed. While I conduct clinical work with people of all ages, my research program focuses on adolescents and adults with ASD emphasizing improved quality of life through development of appropriate services and access to those services to remediate their unique needs. Through my clinical activities, I provide training opportunities to pediatric residents and advanced graduate students in related healthcare fields. These training opportunities promote understanding of the strengths and challenges for these individuals with ASD and their families to future providers in the community.
