  • As a general urologist, I, Dr. Stephen Summers specializes in both men and women with a variety of different urologic conditions. I care for patients with most urologic disorders and have a special interest in the management of benign prostate diseases, complicated kidney stones, and minimally invasive procedures. I perform multiple procedures to treat benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) including Urolift, Rezum, TUIP, TURP, Greenlight PVP, and robotic simple prostatectomy. I am a national leader in having completed hundreds of robotic simple prostatectomies for prostates greater 100 grams. I regularly perform Urolift and Rezum procedures in the office and thereby improve patient access, reduce cost, and achieve excellent outcomes.

I participate in clinical research specific to male voiding dysfunction and the use of remote patient data monitoring. I am the co-investigator on an NIH grant researching better ways to implement this technology as it relates to uroflowmetry. I am involved in resident education as well as the mentorship of medical students interested in urology. As the Co-Director for the new Genitourinary Medicine Fellowship, I am excited to help change the way office-based urology is practiced and improve patient access for urologic care.

As the Adult Urology Clinic Medical Director, I collaborate with our specialists to provide excellent clinical care across our multiple clinical sites. Currently I see patients at the University of Utah main campus and Farmington Health Center. I also have an appointment at the Salt Lake City Veterans Administration Center and perform surgeries there several days per month.
