Bio

Bernhard Fassl was born in Austria where he completed medical school and a residency in Family Medicine. Subsequently he worked internationally, met his wife Barbara and moved to Utah where he completed a residency in Pediatrics. In 2004 he joined the faculty in the Division of Inpatient Medicine while continuing his involvement in various maternal-child health projects in Nepal and Tibet.

He currently leads the Asthma Health Care Quality Improvement project for the University of Utah and Intermountain Healthcare and is actively involved several NIH funded studies. He also has an adjunct appointment at the Division of Public Health where he teaches graduate and undergraduate students about maternal-child health. His current international projects include studying the impact of dissemination of a community based newborn care project in 2 districts of Nepal.

Bernhard Fassl is an avid skier and outdoor enthusiast and enjoys Utah’s red rock country with his wife Barbara and 2 children. He also operates a bicycle shop.
