Bio

Dr. Kristi Kleinschmit graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed a Triple Board internship/residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine, and holds American Board certifications in Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Kleinschmit is an attending physician at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute providing clinical services for children with mental illness, both at the inpatient and partial hospital level (Teenscope and Kidstar), with an emphasis on treating patients with a combination of medical and psychiatric problems. She is currently working with other physicians on GATE, "Giving Access To Everyone", which is a pilot program for psychiatric consultations in the primary care setting.

Dr. Kristi Kleinschmit graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed a Triple Board internship/residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine, and holds American Board certifications in Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Kleinschmit is an Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, and is an attending at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute providing clinical services for children with mental illness, both at the inpatient and partial hospital level, with an emphasis on treating patients with a combination of medical and psychiatric problems. She was awarded a CATCH grant by the American Academy of Pediatrics to assess schools to improve healthcare access and participated in a Healthy People 2010 grant to help provide healthcare referrals within an underserved local highschool. She is currently working with other physicians on GATE, "Giving Access To Everyone", which is a pilot program for psychiatric consultations in the primary care setting. She is the Associate Training Director for the child psychiatry and triple board residencies, supervises psychiatry and child psychiatry residents on rotations, and is the course co-director for the child psychiatry selective for the pediatric residency.
