Bio

Growing up in Salt Lake City, Dr. Moench was introduced to psychiatry at the breakfast table by two other Dr. Moenches -- his father and grandfather, both of whom were psychiatrists. More formally, he completed medical school at the University of Virginia and residency at Stanford University, where he served as Chief Resident and received extensive training in mood disoders, psychopharmacology and women's health. During his time at Stanford, Dr. Moench was named Resident of the Year.

After determining the beaches of California didn't quite compare to the mountains of Utah, Dr. Moench returned to Salt Lake City. Dr. Moench is now medical director in the University of Utah's Adult Behavioral Health Clinic, which he founded in 2006. He also practices at the university's counseling center. Dr. Moench was the recipient of the department's 2012 Clinical Award and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Moench serves as a supervising physician for medical students and resident psychiatrists. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Moench teaches psychopharmacology to training psychiatrists and graduate students. He has lectured on mental illness to numerous Utah groups including at the annual Generations conference. Dr. Moench is also active in the Utah Psychiatric Association, where he serves on the executive board.
