Bio

Dr. Angela Eastvold, PhD is a board certified Clinical Neuropsychologist in the General Neurology Division and performs neuropsychological evaluations on patients with a wide array of neurologic and psychiatric disorders. She is an integral member of the epilepsy team and performs pre- and post-surgical evaluations, as well as Wada tests. Dr. Eastvold also has expertise in traumatic brain injury, particularly mild and complicated mild TBI and neurologic/psychiatric differential diagnosis (e.g., mTBI and PTSD, conversion disorder). She performs worker's compensation evaluations, IMEs and forensic evaluations. Dr. Eastvold is the neuropsychologist for the Real Salt Lake Soccer team and is responsible for performing all the baseline and post-concussion evaluations, contributing to the return-to-play decision making process.

Dr. Eastvold’s other clinical interests include neuropsychological assessment of brain tumor, stroke, multiple sclerosis, CNS infections, toxic exposures (e.g., carbon monoxide poisoning), movement disorders, and the effects of major medical interventions (e.g., cardiac surgery, chemotherapy, radiation). She also performs psychological evaluations of those suspected of having non-epileptic seizure events.

Academic Bio

Angela Eastvold, Ph.D., ABPP joined the University of Utah, Department of Neurology in 2011 as Assistant Professor in the Division of General Neurology. Dr. Eastvold also holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Psychology. She is actively involved in the clinical training of graduate students for both the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.

Dr. Eastvold obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Utah. She completed her neuropsychology internship at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center and a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship at the James Haley Tampa VA Medical Center and University of South Florida, where she received specialized training in epilepsy and all severity levels of traumatic brain injury (TBI), from concussion to coma, with a particular focus on complicated mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and neurologic/psychiatric differential diagnosis (e.g., mTBI and PTSD).

Dr. Eastvold’s research interests include executive and frontal lobe functions, emotional and behavioral changes secondary to brain dysfunction, effects of repetitive insults to the brain, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, conversion disorders, neurocognition of criminal offenders, subclinical cognitive difficulties and the impact of stress on cognition.

Dr. Eastvold is a member of National Academy of Neuropsychology, Sports Neuropsychological Society, Div 40 Neuropsychology of APA, and Utah Psychological Association.
