I felt very much attention was given to my concerns and to answers and solutions. I felt like he gave me as much time as I needed. I did not feel hurried. which was important to me. I feel great confidence in my doctor

October 11, 2014

Dr. Shrpecker has grown in his clinical abilities over the past four years. He is a wonderful doctor (and this is not only because he was the bearer of good news.) The University is well represented. It should be proud to have a Doctor of his obvious learning and developing clinical ability.

October 07, 2014

We have never had a physician spend that amount of time to make a diagnosis and explain various things.

October 06, 2014

Dr. Sphrecher has a great bed-side manner and was compassionate, understanding and knowledgeable regarding my specific medical condition. I left my first appointment with him feeling he will give me the best treatment possible to deal with a disease that I will have to endure for the rest of my life.

September 27, 2014

I appreciate being included in decision-making and being given the necessary information to help make informed decisions. Dr. Shprecher excels in this area.

September 05, 2014

If it were possible, I would give Dr. Sprecher a ten out of five for all of the above. Brilliant, articulate, patient, warm, and thorough. Halfway through my first visit, I interrupted him to say, "I'm in love with your brain!" Have already recommended him to a sister with a tentative diagnosis of Parkinson's.

August 13, 2014

Love Dr. Shprecher!

August 10, 2014

Dr. Shprecher gave us both confidence & encouragement.

July 31, 2014

He has vastly improved his clinical skills over the last four years. His bedside manner is now very good whereas it was poor four years ago. He still has interest in research but seems to put patients first in a manner that was missing when he started. He is now a joy to work with in collaboration about a serious neurological condition. It might just be experience but he is doing well.

July 29, 2014

Over all U of U staff has always been the best !

July 17, 2014

Appointment was concluded before I could ask all my questions. I needed more time to discuss my symptoms.

For the first time I felt like someone cared and understood what i was going through.

May 22, 2014

The level of care, concern and compassion that was shown to me by Dr. Shprecher was like nothing I had ever experienced at a Dr's office. Dr. Shprecher took a lot of time to thoroughly examine me. He typed his notes for me and gave me a copy so that I wouldn't forget what he was telling me.

May 19, 2014

By the time that I am leaving, I always seem to be feeling more up-beat and positive about my condition, and how we're going to move forward with my treatment.

May 12, 2014

Dr. Shprecher spent over 45 minutes with us reviewing her new symptoms and medications. We felt like he listened to our concerns, was very thorough in going over all the medications and explained his reasoning for changing some of them. We appreciate the printed copy of his Plan of Care which outlined the changes made to the medication. We refer to this to verify we are making the correct changes. We love the My Chart feature and ability to communicate to Dr. Shprecher and his NP. We are very pleased with the care we have received through this clinic and especially Dr. Shprecher's ability to explain things in laymen's terms.

April 14, 2014

Dr. Shprecher and his student assistant Jessica Wilkinson were both professional, helpful, and interested. Top quality.

April 01, 2014

Dr. Shprecher made a quick diagnosis without really listening to my history or concerns. He was supposed to confer with Dr. Helen Barkan, who had referred me and had different ideas as to my health concerns. He told me that he would advise me after they met. Nearly 3 weeks later, I am still waiting for a response.

March 22, 2014

Dr Shprecher takes his time to listen to my concerns and to understand the situation. His recommendations are well thought out.

March 15, 2014

The doctor has been and continueos to be very concerned.

March 04, 2014

I'm just one person among many in his practice. But health problems I experience affect my entire life. I never feel like I have enough time for questions and a thorough understanding of his thoughts. Email via MyChart is answered cryptically.

January 14, 2014

But there is a weakness in finding good solutions for the patient. And give a large amount of drugs, These medications have side effects too much for the patient with other mid actions ???

December 20, 2013

My compliments to all of you!

We never feel rushed at a visit with our doctor. I really appreciate the handout we receive that tells us all of the things that have been discussed and what we are to do until the next visit.

December 02, 2013

Excellent visit

November 25, 2013

I have been very concerned about my Parkinson's Disease and was looking forward to my meeting with Dr. Shprecher. I can't remember ever having as thorough a going over as I had that morning. My wife ( who accompanied me) were both very gratified for the thoroughness of the exam. Nothing was left out and all my questions, no matter how trivial, were answered in a kindly and helpful manner.

November 25, 2013

Dr. David Shprecher was fantastic! He was thorough in his exam, concerned, honest, and approachable. I felt as ease with him and felt he did his best to understand my condition and provide the clear steps to move forward towards a diagnoses.

November 20, 2013

I realize that some things can not be diagnosed, but I would like to know the possibilities. Knowing what to watch for and report at the next appointment would be good too.

November 04, 2013

He is getting much better as a clinician--his bedside manner has vastly improved. Much more confidence in his academic knowledge and treatment strategy.

November 03, 2013

he was very helpful in suggesting three other doctors for family who who suffer from migraines and willing to assist with follow up or scheduling if needed. he was very caring toward my situation. I spent 2 weeks at Mayo Clinic and got no care or satisfaction. here, I found people who were very interested in helping me battle this debilitating condition. thank you so much. Your interest means so much to me.

good

Dr. Shprecher is an excellent medical provider. I appreciate his care, concern and expertise.

September 30, 2013

Dr. Shprecher always very informative and shows genuine concern about my condition. He also is recommending books to read or informing me about upcoming conferences that I might be interested in attending, and learning more about my condition.

September 30, 2013

Dr. Shprecher is personable and willing to listen and explain.

September 25, 2013

I really needed more information on the drugs prescribed. What the side effects might be, if they would interact with other medicines, etc. I did call and talk to Katie about my concerns and she was very helpful.

September 23, 2013

Doctor is the most informative and knowledgeable I have seen in the 12 years since my original diagnosis.

August 21, 2013

Seems like this provider is a little contradictory.

August 20, 2013

Although options are available for home safety inspection and social planning, we didn't think they were needed at this time.

August 12, 2013

Dr. Schprecher is very helpful

August 11, 2013

Good experience

August 06, 2013

A surprisingly pleasant experience. Concern was shown with definite action steps to take to get closer to resolution of my issues.

August 05, 2013

He was very reassuring about the new medication he is changing for me.

August 05, 2013

I had one of the best experiences I have had with neurologists in my 12 years since diagnosis of Parkinson's. I was impressed with the knowledge and compassion Dr. Shprecher (Dr. Bromberg too) has for the Parkinson's patients.

August 03, 2013

Dr. Shprecher was very kind and spent a lot of time with us; even talked to my son on the phone for about 30 mins as he has similar symptoms. He was very caring and knowledgeable and great to work with.

July 17, 2013

The doctor and the PA did a very thorough exam and consulted with each other. They also were very attentive to things I said and questions I asked.

July 16, 2013

I will not see anyone else!!!!

June 18, 2013

I have to depend on someone to take me to all Dr. appts. When my daughter takes me, it seems to me that the Drs. listen to her more than to myself. Making me feel that maybe next time I should have someone else bring me.

June 06, 2013

I was extremely impressed with the level of care I received from Dr. Sprecher. I never felt rushed, even though I was explaining the long history behind a complicated health issue.

June 03, 2013

I really appreciated the informative and concerned way Dr. Shprecher took care of my son and answered my questions. He was able to help me make decisions for future tests that were needed for my son's proper diagnosis and advise on the best tests and where these tests would be best administered. He took a good length of time to be informed of the history of my son's condition, addressed the immediate needs, and also advised on the overall need of his Muscle Disease diagnosis. I also very much like his bedside manner, his knowledge of other physicians in his field and their expertise.

May 27, 2013

the time scheduled for an appointment is not enough time to satisfactorily answer all my questions and concerns about such a life-changing condition.

May 27, 2013

Dr Shprecher is very helpful, listens carefully, treats me with respect and concern. I have great confidence in him.

May 23, 2013

good

May 23, 2013

Doctor and PA were so good, I'd like to keep them all to myself!

May 17, 2013

Very good experience. But have had some difficulity adjusting to the new schedule for taking meds and have been some what discouraged. However, doing better the last few days.

May 09, 2013

Everything went well and I am seeing a difference in my conditions. Thanks to Dr Shprecher.

May 08, 2013

Great to find a physician who recognized the medical condition and good provide additional information sources

May 07, 2013

Dr is one of the rare DR.that really listens,he showes genuine concern for my well being

May 01, 2013

Felt very confident about the doctor and the resident. Wished I had thought to ask more questions. THey seemed very confident which installed confidence in me. So I just trusted the plan of treatment provided. Later, when reality struck and I was experiencing pain again, I wished I could talk to them and ask more questions about how common what I am experiencing is and if they could give me more understanding about why the dyskinesia and dystonia is happening to me. However, the email which I have used since has been most helpful.

April 26, 2013

Dr Shprecher is very empathetic and is good at explaining medicines and why he is recommending what he does. He then gives you written instructions.

April 25, 2013

For the first time in my life, I received answers to my health problem that made sense.

April 22, 2013

I do not evr want to get shots from anyone else, so he better never leave me...We tried shots in new places and still waiting to see how they work at the month mark...

April 22, 2013

From my experience your neurological center is very proficient

April 19, 2013

I was called later after this appointment and told by Dr. Shprecher's assistant that I had been prescribed a med that the Dr. hadn't told me about, so I was a bit confused. However, we got it cleared up and the Dr. worked with me on this drug.

April 15, 2013

Provider demonstrated superior knowledge of my problem.

April 12, 2013

Am impressed with the time Dr. Shprecher spends with his patients and the medical students that come in with him. He is a very good teacher.

April 09, 2013

Meds are always confusing. Side effects continue to be concerning.

April 08, 2013

We went for a specific problem. He addressed another problem instead of the problem we had to come to get help for.

March 25, 2013

I feel that I now know what to expect

March 25, 2013

Dr shprecher was really helpful. He took genuine interest and explained thoughtfully and clearly

March 18, 2013

Physician very generous with his time, allowing me to ask questions and discuss any concerns without feeling rushed. Too many times a physician seems to push things along and rush through the visit, many times leaving questions and concerns unanswered.

March 15, 2013

I feel very fortunate that I have been able to be examined by Dr. Shprecher. I believe he has just the right background and insights to help me with an illness that went a year-and-a-half without diagnosis until I was able to see him and Drs. Singleton and Gibson. I have every confidence in his abilities.

March 13, 2013

excellent he explained any i would question and plus more that he might think Iwould not know

March 12, 2013

Compared to the neurologist saw last (10 Jan 2013), this is a complete turn around. We felt that the doctor cared about her.

March 11, 2013

Loved how the doctor typed and printed a list of items discussed during the visit

March 06, 2013

I was very satisfied with the visit

February 20, 2013

I can't say enough good things about the doctor. All my questions regarding my condition were met with an explanation and more.

February 19, 2013

I was very impressed with Dr. Shprecher. He was very thorough and knowledgable and I am very glad to have been referred to him!

February 11, 2013

Very positive experience, the Doctor was very good to answer my question, and concerns in a way I could understand.

February 05, 2013

Never interrupted my mother once, that says a lot about a doctor.

February 02, 2013

Outstanding care and concern. Spent an hour with me and was very thorough.

January 30, 2013

Dr. Shprecher is very good at what he does.

January 25, 2013

I had a question that never got answered...He cant do 3 things at once, but could have addressed it later.

January 16, 2013

Dr. Shprecher was really helpful and spent nearly an hour with me. He gave us options and gave his very experienced opinion on what to do next.

January 14, 2013

Very good experience. The doctor and MA were very thorough. The final diagnosis was a bit unclear.

January 14, 2013

He is GREAT. Makes me feel like I'm the only person he cares about. So good and thorough in his work every time I come in.

January 06, 2013

Dr. Shprecher and his staff are outstanding. I had an enormously positive experience.

December 31, 2012

I have always liked how I've been treated at this office. The Doctor and his assiant have always been very helpful, and understanding to my problems.

December 31, 2012

good

December 27, 2012

I very much appreciate Dr Sphrecher's scope of clinical knowledge, his ability to consider new theories and keeping an open mind in order to help me get an accurate dx and improve my quality of life.

December 24, 2012

not completely sure diagnosis is correct ? no Doctors have been sure of what the issue is, it seems, so I'm not really sure. I'm willing to try medication prescribed, as I have not had any success with any previous doctors in the past year. I am very hopeful this treatment will be successful.

December 19, 2012

Exceptional Dr. kind, caring, professional

December 18, 2012

Doctor did not spend an hour with me and re-diagnosed my condition without doing a complete exam nor did he seem educated on bedside manner or evaluating facts. I would not refer nor see him again.

November 27, 2012

I was very distressed at my diagnosis of Parkinson's, and barely keeping it together emotionally. I think he was pretty uncomfortable with that, which surprised me. I would have thought he'd have experience with helping patients through a scary diagnosis.

November 19, 2012

Dr Sprecker is extremely kind and caring and professional all rolled into one. He acknowledged my previous nursing experience and took the time to ask me about it. I greatly appreciated that. He had some serious things to convey to me, however he did it in such a kind and caring manner.

November 19, 2012

Actually enjoyed this appointment.

November 08, 2012

I feel that Dr. Shprecher is a very caring person. He makes you feel that you are important and takes time to explain everything to you.

October 22, 2012

I was very pleased at the amount of time the doctor took with me and answering questions.

October 15, 2012

My suggestions given over the internet were taken very seriously and Doc was totally prepared with amounts neede and where to put them...This was wonderful because it can take up lot of time trying to figure out where to put the shots...He took the time to get it all figured out the morning of my appt...Probably very early in the morning, knowing him...

October 15, 2012

Dr Shprecher is fabulous. He seems to consider all the options and discuss them with me. He also answers any question via email rapidly. Still, I have more questions than time allows.

October 05, 2012

Dr Shprecher and his assistants were extraordinary.

September 24, 2012

I have been seeing Dr. Shprecher for three years. I've always thought he knew his medicine. His "bedside" manner has vastly improved as has his explanations for my condition and medical options. I have gained confidence in my treatment mainly through improvement in those areas.

September 10, 2012

I was so disconnected after my diagnosis that my mind really went blank. So most information the doc gave me after this point was 'lost in translation'. However, I do know he was explaining everything I needed to know - I just couldn't concentrate on it.

September 03, 2012

Felt very comfortable during my visit.

August 30, 2012

Dr. S. seems to care very much.

August 13, 2012

I feel very positive about my experience and would recommend the University of Utah hospital to anyone.

August 11, 2012

prescription is far too costly dr refuses a ganeric

August 06, 2012

Being very nervous and concerned about my problem Dr. Shprecher tried his very best to make me feel comfortable and not to be so worried. He expalined what I have and offered some hope.

August 06, 2012

DR SCHPRECHER IS, BY FAR, THE BEST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER HAD!

August 01, 2012

He spend more time than he probably had. Hopefully, he didn't miss an appointment that was elsewhere on campus. It was just so good to finally talk to a professional about Parkinson's. I have to say I'm still afraid of the damaging effects of the disease when taking medicines. Certainly had a hope for awhile that exercise and will power could keep the symptoms at bay. Everything has moved quickly in last 6 months.

July 30, 2012

I appreciate Dr. Shprecher's expertize and the time spend dealing with my questions.

July 16, 2012

He is sooo good at what he does I seldom feel the shots...He keeps a conversation going or is talking to me and its done before I realize he even gave it...I get probably about 30 or so shots and I only feel about 3 or 4...That is amazing as I have always

July 09, 2012

I came from Japan for this appointment. He was thoughtful and kind. He spent time answering my questions and concerns. When I left I understood my condition and am hopeful about moving foward to a solution.

June 14, 2012

Everyone was absolutely supper

April 13, 2012

I truly appreciated the written material that was given to us as to regards to my son's condition and what was needed to take care of him in the future.

March 30, 2012

my deaf husband commented to me he finally understand the effects of Parkinson Disease on me after Dr. Shprecer took his time explaining in layman's language. Dr. even showed his power point presentation - the visual presentation helped both of us learn to accept and expect the effects of this disease- we are able to discuss about asking and acquiring future help from other agencies- such as nursing care at home - etc. Dr. Sprecher shows sensitivity and he treats us as if we are important.

March 22, 2012

We appreciated the extra time Dr. Shprecher spent with us.

March 16, 2012

I do feel that I am starting over with my "diagnosis" since the doctor feels that I do not have an ataxia, but what I am dealing with is neuropathy. That is where I started years ago with other neurologists. I guess this is just one of those difficult to determine causes.

March 16, 2012

good man; difficult name to spell!

March 15, 2012

We are always impressed with Dr Shprecher's knowledge and kindness and making sure we understand everything.

March 06, 2012

Though the diagnosis was not one anyone would choose, an air of confidence the medical team displays, helps calm some of the uncertainty and fears the future has in store for me.

February 29, 2012

good

February 18, 2012

very good

February 16, 2012

the future will tell I hope the treatments work.

February 14, 2012

I'm very happy with the care I have received from my care provider and his staff. Thank you very much.

January 25, 2012

I already come with my friend to my check-ups like a date--- I refer a lot of people because I know they will receive real attention from Dr. Shprecher.

January 09, 2012

I was well pleased with his presentation of the examination and the tests. He explained the MRI very well.

January 06, 2012

very please with this appointment. Everyone was very friendly and helpful

This includes an initiative to develop enteric histopathology as a marker of neurodegenerative risk in subpopulations at-risk for Lewy body disorders. His research in Tourette syndrome is designed to clarify why some, but not all, individuals experience significant improvement in their symptoms as they reach adulthood. He has authored several invited review papers and chapters on Tourette syndrome, as well as delayed post-hypoxic leukoencephalopathy (a rare cause of secondary parkinsonism.)

Dr. Shprecher serves as director of Utah's Movement Disorders fellowship program. In addition to residents and fellows from neurology, psychiatry, physiatry and geriatrics, Dr. Shprecher serves as a lecturer for Utah's Physical Therapy School. He has created an extensive movement disorders video library to support physician education. He began holding an annual Huntington Disease Education Day for the local HD community in 2011, and has served as a regular speaker for the American Parkinson Disease Association Utah Chapter since 2009.

Dr. Shprecher completed a BS at Cornell University, a DO at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a Neurology Residency at the University of Utah. He completed his movement disorders/ experimental therapeutics fellowship and Masters in Clinical Investigation at the University of Rochester. He serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several academic journals, and is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, Parkinson Study Group, Huntington Study Group, and Movement Disorders Society.
