Krista Viau, PhD, RDN, CSP provides comprehensive nutrition therapy for patients with inborn errors of metabolism through direct patient counseling and education, program development, advocacy, and research. Dr. Viau utilizes ongoing laboratory data, food records, and growth patterns as the basis for determining dietary recommendations. She also consults with outside agencies and physicians for metabolic patients who are hospitalized or have special medical needs in conjunction with the medical director of the clinic.

Academic Bio

Krista Viau, PhD, RDN, CSP completed her BS and MS in nutrition and her PhD in public health. She has collaborated with faculty on publications aiming to advance evidence-based treatment of several rare, metabolic conditions, including phenylketonuria, glutaric acidemia type 1, and guanidinoacetate methyltransferase deficiency. Dr. Viau also strives to understand and improve adherence to dietary treatments. Her doctoral dissertation studied self-management skills and the use of motivational interviewing to improve treatment adherence in individuals with phenylketonuria.
