Shrena Patel, M.D. is an attending neonatologist for the Newborn Intensive Care Units at Primary Children's Medical Center, the University of Utah Medical Center and Intermountain Medical Center. Dr. Patel provides care for premature infants, critically ill newborns and newborn infants with a large variety of birth defects. Academic Bio

Shrena Patel, M.D. is an attending neonatologist for the Newborn Intensive Care Units at Primary Children's Medical Center, the University of Utah Medical Center and Intermountain Medical Center. Dr. Patel provides care for premature infants, critically ill newborns and newborn infants with a large variety of birth defects. She has a special interest in quality improvement and family centered care projects.

Dr. Patel is interested in improving the delivery and quality of health care to neonates. Her major projects include evaluating strategies to reduce the incidence and severity of intraventricular hemorrhage in low birth weight infants. Additionally, she is working on a model of non-invasive, continuous cardiac output monitoring in the neonate. She recently joined the faculty after completing her fellowship at the University of Utah. During her training, she completed formal training in carrying out continuous quality improvement and patient safety work and she plans on utilizing these skills in her research career.
