    HUNTSMAN CANCER CENTER

I don't have enough good things to say about my experience with Dr. Matsen. She made me feel very comfortable, shes exceptional at patient education and my results match exactly with the expectations that she set. She is very professional, but also very personable and obviously cares about the person sitting in front of her and making a human connection. She is an excellent surgeon and also has fantastic taste in TV shows and books if you are looking for a recommendation while you recover!

In my case, Dr. Matsen is living up to her reputation of having the highest technical expertise combined with the most engaging and calming communication skills. In our first meeting Dr. Matsen spent two hours with me explaining the ultrasound and biopsy results of the cancer in my right breast and possible treatment options. And due to ambiguities in the tests, she said she needed more information, so she ordered an MRI, which revealed two additional tumors in the right breast and another tumor in the left. Thank goodness for her careful and thorough research! Now we have a plan for her to do lumpectomies on all these tumors, and she has teamed up with the plastic surgery department to restore my chest to a normal appearance after the oncology surgery. Throughout this testing and planning phase, Dr. Matsen considered my preferences and priorities, answered all my questions and included me in the decisions. I am happy with the plan and confident of a complete recovery.
