Bio

Matthew Grantz, MD is a visiting instructor and stroke research fellow in the Department of Neurology. He completed medical training in his native Colorado at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. He completed his medical internship and subsequent neurology residency at the University of Utah. His final year he served as a co-chief resident. Following his residency, Dr. Grantz pursued a multiple year Vascular Neurology fellowship at the University of Utah.

Dr. Grantz is involved in acute in-patient care and outpatient clinics. He is involved in numerous international, national and local research projects including Telestroke, heparin use in stroke patients, and the genetic causes of cerebral sinus venous thrombosis. Dr. Grantz has lectured on various topics including peripheral neuropathy, multiple sclerosis, acute stroke therapies and patient management. Dr. Grantz prides himself on providing compassionate, evidence based, cost effective patient care.

Prior to entering the medical field, Dr. Grantz taught high school science in a remote, Sub-Saharan African village in the Peace Corps. He enjoys his family, international travel, and backpacking in Utah's numerous National Parks and wilderness.
