Bio

Dr. Newman is a Visiting Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the University of Utah. After completing his medical school training at the University of Virginia in 2007 and Internal Medicine residency at the University of Utah in 2011 he began his career as a full-time Hospitalist where he serves as an attending hospitalist and member of the General Medicine Hospitalist Program at the University of Utah Medical Center. In this capacity he provides comprehensive inpatient care to patients with a wide variety of complex medical issues, provides education to medical students and residents rotating through Internal Medicine, and is pursuing research in the area of quality and patient safety with a specific focus on hip fracture care and laboratory utilization.

In addition to being a Hospitalist, his other academic pursuits include providing education to medical students and residents and assisting in re-designing education to fit into the new resident duty hours, hip fracture co-management, developing integrated care pathways, and quality improvement and patient safety.

Outside the hospital Dr. Newman enjoys rock climbing, road cycling, mountain biking, backpacking, skiing, gourmet cooking, and enology.
