Bio

Dr. Bennett received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency and fellowship in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine at the University of Washington. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Pediatric Critical Care division at the University of Utah.

Dr. Bennett is an attending physician in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Primary Children’s Medical Center, where he cares for a broad range of critically ill and injured children. His research focuses on critical care therapies and outcomes, often using large national databases, and with a particular interest in traumatic brain injury.

Academic Bio

Dr. Bennett joined the University of Utah School of Medicine and the Division of Pediatric Critical Care as an Instructor in 2009, and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2011. He received his undergraduate education at Rice University and his M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After postgraduate training in pediatrics, he completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care and a Master’s of Science in epidemiology, all at the University of Washington.

Dr. Bennett is funded from 2013-2018 by the NICHD Pediatric Critical Care Scientist Development Program, and was funded from 2010-2012 by the Mentored Scholars Program for Translational Comparative Effectiveness Research. His research applies quantitative methods to epidemiologic and comparative effectiveness questions in pediatric critical care, often using large national databases. He is primarily focused on critical care therapies including intracranial pressure monitoring and their effect on outcomes in pediatric traumatic brain injury.
