Academic Bio

"Dr. Robert Preston is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Utah. He is a full-time intensivist in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and is the Associate Director of the Huntsman Cancer Institute intensive care unit. He also works clinically in the Emergency Department.

Prior to joining the University of Utah in 2009, he completed an Emergency Medicine residency at Duke University followed by a critical care fellowship, also at Duke. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine. He completed medical school at University College Dublin, Ireland and obtained his Bachelor of Science (Honours) from Queen’s University, in Kingston, Canada.

Dr. Preston is a core faculty member for the Emergency Medicine residency program at the University of Utah. His research interests are focused on clinical outcomes in the Emergency Department and in the ICU"
