Rahul Anand, M.D.

Bio

Rahul Anand is a faculty member in Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine, Co-director of the International Travel Clinic, Co-director of the GeoSentinel (post-travel) surveillance network and member of TravEpi (pre-travel) Network and Emerging Infections Network; along with being an expert consultant in Tropical Medicine, and Co-Director of the Immunocompromised and Transplant Infectious Diseases Service at the University of Utah.

Dr. Anand completed his Internship at Chicago Medical School and affiliated Mt. Sinai Medical Center and North Chicago Veteran Affairs Medical Center, and residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University, Philadelphia and affiliated Fox Chase Cancer Center. He pursued his fellowship in Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia and affiliated Lankenau Hospital and Philadelphia Tuberculosis and STD Clinic. Dr. Anand is board certified in Internal Medicine (both India and USA), and ABIM certified in the specialty of Infectious Diseases. In additional, he holds multiple additional certifications: Certificate in Travel Health® issued by the International Society of Travel Medicine, the Certificate in Tropical Medicine and Travelers Health by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, American Academy of HIV Medicine certified HIV Specialist, and is an expert in Immunocompromised and Transplant related infections.

Dr. Anand was born and raised in Delhi, India and spent part of his childhood in Uganda, Africa prior to coming to the US where he has lived in various states playing leading roles in distinguished institutions. He worked as Registrar in Medicine at Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi, and was a faculty member in Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine at the North Bronx Healthcare Network, Health and Hospitals Corporation, New York City serving the uninsured and underinsured minorities of the Bronx prior to coming to the University of Utah. He is interested in helping to share the art and science of Medicine across the world, in particular Infectious Diseases related knowledge, skills and education. He is a member of the U’s Global health initiative, and also directs the International Medicine course at the University of Utah.
