Academic Bio

Nicholas Markin, MD is a instructor in the department of Anesthesiology. His interests are in cardiac and liver transplant anesthesiology with an emphasis in the use of echocardiography to augment the anesthestic management of these patient populations. He comes from Omaha, NE where he did his anesthesia training along with medical school. In addition to patient care Dr. Markin is interested in research and has conducted studies looking at the impact rescue echocardiography has made in the care of patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery and looking at the incidence of air embolism associate with ERCP using transthoracic echocardiographic survaillence. His hope is that through further training and research these tools will allow for improved care of patients.
