Bio

Dr. Buonaiuto received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 2004 and went on to complete a residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo in 2007. He completed his first fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Stanford University in 2010 and subsequently trained in Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Michigan, completing his second fellowship in 2012.

He joined the faculty at the University of Utah as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in July 2012, holding appointments in the departments of both Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Critical Care. Though specializing in the postoperative management of congenital heart patients in the cardiac intensive care unit, he continues to practice outpatient Cardiology as well.

His interests include the management of heart failure patients with the use of Ventricular Assist Devices and Simulation Based Medical Education, including CPR training and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation.
