Antoinette Laskey, MD, MPH, is the Division Chief of the Center for Safe and Healthy Families at Primary Children’s Hospital. As a board certified child abuse pediatrician, her work focuses on the care and management of the potentially abused child. Dr. Laskey’s research agenda covers physician decision making under uncertainty, particularly as it relates to child maltreatment; child fatalities and primary prevention programs related to abusive head trauma, unsafe sleep practices and other types of child abuse using novel dissemination techniques.
Dr. Laskey received her undergraduate degree in psychology and her medical degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia. After completing her pediatric residency training at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospitals and Clinics, she completed a master’s of public heath at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill while serving as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar. At the completion of her fellowship training, she joined the faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine in the Division of Children’s Health Services Research.
During her tenure at Indiana University, Dr. Laskey developed the fellowship program in child abuse pediatrics and was the fellowship director from 2007-2012. Her work in Indiana included extensive work within the community providing multidisciplinary educational programs on all aspects of child abuse and child fatality prevention with diverse groups including law enforcement, attorneys, child welfare workers, allied health professionals, educators and the lay public.
Dr. Laskey is active in many professional organizations. Currently, she is serving her second term as the Chair for the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section on Child Abuse and Neglect. Additionally, she is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics, Subboard for Child Abuse Pediatrics.
