Dr. Drapkin graduated with honors from the Alpert Medical School at Brown University in 2013. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Utah where he served as Chief Resident. After residency, Dr. Drapkin completed his fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah. He joined the faculty at the University of Utah in 2018 and is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Drapkin is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine where he is a practicing Pediatric Emergency Physician at Primary Children’s Hospital. He also practices general emergency medicine and sees patients at the University of Utah Hospital. He serves as the Associate Fellowship Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine 3-year ACGME Fellowship. In addition to caring for children and adults with a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions, he is the course director for the Transition to Internship Course at the University of Utah School of Medicine. His interests include optimizing team performance in critical care situations and teaching conflict management skills using principles and techniques that have been utilized in other professions—aviation, marriage counseling, hostage negotiation, law, military, business, avalanche mitigation, professional sports—and applying those principles to team settings in medicine.
