Joan Collett is currently a Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She is practicing in the GI Oncology department, Huntsman Cancer Institute, with Dr Sunil Sharma. Her main interests and expertise are in esophageal, pancreatic, cholangio, gastric, appendiceal, colon, rectal and anal cancers. She is also certified to see patients enrolled in clinical trials.

Prior to working at Huntsman, she worked as a Nurse Practitioner, a chemotherapy infusion nurse and a nurse manager in Community Oncology.

Joan earned her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Brigham Young University in 2011. While in her master’s program, she was inducted into the Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau. Her Master’s thesis was “Oncology Nurses Impact Scores for Obstacles and Supportive Behaviors for End-of-Life Care” which was published in the Journal of Oncology Nursing, 2011 and was presented at the Western Nursing Research Conference.
