The FDA Takes Steps Toward Banning Trans Fats
Artificial trans fats, a key ingredient in some of America's most popular foods, may be banished under a new federal government proposal because of their risk to public health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken the first steps toward eliminating the artery-clogging substance, saying the change could prevent 20,000 heart attacks and 7,000 deaths caused by heart disease each year.
