The Suburban Spread

People who live in suburban areas are more likely to be overweight than people who live in cities, a new study says. Researchers writing in a 2004 issue of the American Journal of Public Health said a suburban environment encourages weight gain because people not only have to drive places instead of walking, but also because the time spent driving cuts into time for exercising or cooking healthy meals.
