(HealthDay News) -- People with diabetes have complications that often affect the feet, including potential loss of circulation or nerve damage.

The American Diabetes Association says diabetics should be aware of these potential symptoms:

  • Neuropathy -- loss of feeling in the feet or toes.

  • Skin changes, including significant dryness, peeling and cracking.

  • Poor circulation in the legs and feet.

  • Foot ulcers, especially on the balls of the feet or the bottom of the big toes.

  • Foot calluses.
