Purpose

To provide assistance and support to the nursing staff at the John Moran Surgery Center

Reports to

RN supervisors and nurse manager

Days/Hours

Varying, Monday through Friday

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Introduce self as a volunteer to staff and patients
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
  • Direct patients and family to their destination (waiting areas, PACU, elevators, restrooms, and the like)
  • Stock supplies and run errands as needed and directed
  • Retrieve supplies for nurses
  • Give assistance to clerical staff when requested
  • Clean stretchers and provide with clean linen
  • Assist with meeting the patient's comfort needs (providing warm blankets, offering drinks when directed by RN.)
  • Inform waiting families regarding time delays in surgery  and the status of their family member having surgery
