University Hospital & Clinics
Application Process
Before applying, we ask that you familiarize yourself with the volunteer requirements and expectations. If you would like to become a volunteer, please complete the following steps:
-
Complete the Volunteer Application. (If you are under 18 years of age, please fill out the Junior Volunteer Application).
On the application form, you must provide two personal references. These references may be from a former employer, teacher, clergy person, or volunteer coordinator.
-
Take the completed paperwork to Anne Dibble in the Volunteer Office, Room W1770.
-
A member of the staff will contact you to schedule an interview to determine your interests and if a volunteer position is available that fits your needs and time availability.
-
If you wish to continue with the volunteer application process following the interview, a criminal background check will be submitted.
-
We will contact you when we receive the results of the criminal background check, and arrange for an orientation appointment.
Before attending the orientation, you will need to obtain required immunizations/vaccinations. You will need a TB skin test, and depending on where you will volunteer, you may also need the Hepatitis B series. TB skin tests and Hepatitis B vaccinations are provided to you at no charge at the Employee Immunization Clinic.
The Employee Immunization Clinic is located in room #AA217, on the A level across from the "A" elevators. Please take your current vaccination records with you. The clinic hours vary weekly. Please call 581-2227 to verify the weekly hours of operation.
- Attend Orientation.
1. Bring your driver's license and license plate number in order to be issued a parking pass.
2. Bring photo identification so you can receive your volunteer ID badge.
3. Following orientation you will receive your volunteer shirt (if required for you assigned area) and your four digit PIN for logging your volunteer hours.
4. We will also arrange additional orientation or hands-on training for your volunteer assignment with the department coordinator.
We look forward to meeting you and feel that both you and University Hospital will benefit from your volunteer experience.
