Moran Surgery Center

Purpose

To provide assistance and support to the nursing staff at the John Moran Surgery Center

Reports to

RN supervisors and Nurse Manager

Days/Hours

Varying, Monday through Friday

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Introduce self as a volunteer to staff and patients.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Direct patients and family to their destination (waiting areas, PACU, elevators, restrooms, etc.).
  • Stock supplies and run errands as needed and directed.
  • Retrieve supplies for nurses.
  • Give assistance to clerical staff when requested.
  • Clean stretchers and provide with clean linen.
  • Assist with meeting the patient's comfort needs (providing warm blankets, offering drinks when directed by RN.).
  • Informs waiting families regarding time delays in surgery  and the status of their family member having surgery
