HPV Vaccination Coalition
The Intermountain West HPV Vaccination Coalition brings together immunization program representatives with cancer control, pediatric, and primary care specialists as well as parents and community members who share the common goal of improving human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates in our region. Learn more from this Scope Radio podcast with Deanna Kepka, PhD titled "Utah Has the Lowest Vaccination Rate of This Cancer-Reducing Vaccine."
Specifically, the Coalition aims to improve HPV vaccination among boys and girls ages 11-12 by doing the following:
- Identifying barriers to HPV vaccination through an environmental scan. This will include policy issues; parent, adolescent, and provider perspectives; and missed opportunities.
- Exploring current research activities related to HPV vaccination in our region and building partnerships with other organizations and individuals.
- Using results of the environmental scan to shape the Coalition’s activities and consolidate regional efforts. This will enable a more strategic and efficient approach to combating low HPV vaccination rates in the region.
- Developing a plan to improve HPV vaccine rates through policy priorities, research efforts, and pediatric and family-practice initiatives.
Individuals or organizations sharing this goal are welcome to join the Coalition.
